Jordan Business Visit Concluded
Early in March, EDI representatives were in Jordan for meetings with the new Managing Director of the AMCHAM there as well as with other business representatives and commercial organizations including the Amman Chamber of Commerce. EDI, in its regional representation efforts on behalf of its client states, regularly travels the region to generate new business contacts.
Breakfast with Coushatta Tribe Delegation
EDI participated in a business networking session in Tel Aviv with representatives of Lousiana’s Coushatta Tribe who were in Israel in early March. The tribe was in Israel to investigate opportunities for investment and cooperation. Official recognition of the Coushatta Tribe was granted in 1973, by the US Bureau of Indian Affairs. The tribe has 154 acres of land designated for their use for the purpose of crawfish farming and development of the new cattle raising program.
Visit to Pennsylvania & Delaware Concluded
EDI Associate Director Seth Vogelman was in Pennsylvania during mid-March for a one week visit to a number of economic devleopment regions in the state. The program was one of a series of semi annual visits to the state by representatives of Pennsylvania’s overseas trade offices. During the visit he met with any number of local companies interested in explorting additional export opportunities to the Eastern Mediterranean region. He also spent a few days in Delaware on similar business. EDI represents the trade and investment interess of both states in the Middle East.
Annual Meeting of the AMCHAM/Israel
EDI participated in the annual meeting of the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Tel Aviv on March 26th. The attendees were graced with the presence of US Ambassador James Cunningham, who is also the Honorary Chairman of the AMCHAM. Amb. Cunningham discussed the current economic downturn and what it means to bi lateral trade. EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz is a member of the Management Committee of the AMCHAM.
International Business Group General Manager Visits EDI
Richard Zurba, the General Manager of the International Business Group (IBG) headquartered in Johanessburg, South Africa, was in Israel in early April to meet with EDI’s management. IBG is an association of over 20 similar businesses worldwide who provide referrals and business consulting services to companies, government entitites and others seeking international business opportunities. EDI is a founding member of the IBG group which is now in its ninth year of operation.
