EDI to Exhibit at ILSI-BioMed Israel 2008

EDI, in its role as administrator of the American States Offices Association in Israel, will operate the US pavilion at the annual ILSI-BioMed Exhibition and Conference in Tel Aviv, May 27-29. Exhibting in the pavilion will be Pennsylvania and Oklahoma, both states whose trade and investment interests EDI represents in this region, along with Florida, Ohio and New York. The annual show continues to grow in size, this year encompassing two venues next door to each other, the David Intercontinental Hotel and the Dan Panorama Hotel and includes the Stem Cell Conference as well.

Oklahoma Investment Seminar Scheduled

Oklahoma will sponsor an “Invest in Oklahoma” seminar at the Carlton Hotel in Tel Aviv on Monday, May 26th. Participating in the conference will be senior representatives of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce coming to Israel specifically for this event. The Conference is being organized by EDI in its role as the regional representative of the Department

Meeting with MK Avishai Braverman Scheduled

Former Ben Gurion University of the Negev President and now MK, Avishai Braverman, will have a private meeting in Tel Aviv on May 15th with representatives of the Orange County (California) Chapter of the Young President’s Organization. The delegation is composed of 35 members of the chapter and is being led by Ygal and Coby Sonenshine. EDI, in its role as Israeli Liaison Office for the Merage Foundation for US-Israel Trade arranged the meeting, given the fact that the Foundation is headquartered in Orange County as well.

Lunch with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm

EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz will participate in a luncheon in Tel Aviv on May 1st to mark the first visit to Israel of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. The luncheon is being sponsored by the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and is open, by invitation only, to members of the Management Committee of the Chamber.

Idaho-Israel Business Summit Held in April

April 1-3 saw the successful operation of the first Idaho-Israel Business Summit which began in the Micron Auditorium of Boise State University on April 1st. The program featured presentations (via videoconference) by six Israeli “green tech” companies as well as a live presentation by Jim Kleinburd of Dotan Technologies, who travailed to Idaho specifically for this conference. Also present during the events those days were Ismail Khaldi, Israel’s Deputy Consul General in San Francisco and Shai Aizen, Israel’s Economic Consul in Los Angeles. The formal conference on April 1st was followed by two days of one on one meetings with Idaho companies interested in the Israeli market. The events culminated in a closing luncheon hosted by Daniel T. Eismann, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of Idaho, on the premises of the Court. EDI was engaged to handle this project by the Idaho Department of Commerce in cooperation with Idahoans United for Israel.

EDI participates in SOFEX

EDI Associate Director Seth Vogelman was in Amman, Jordan at SOFEX 2008 in early April. SOFEX was a four-day international conference and exhibition that focuses on military, special forces and police applications. Following the conference itself, exhibitors from Australia, China, Germany, France, India, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the USA displayed their products. EDI represented a number of Pennsylvania companies who wished to have their materials given to interested parties. EDI also assisted an interested Oklahoma-based security consultant to explore export potential in the area. EDI represents the interests of Oklahoma and Pennsylvania in the region.
