EDI to Participate in "U.S. & Israel: 60 Years of Alliance & Enterprise" Event
EDI will be represented in Washington on December 2nd at a special, one day program sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at their headquarters, marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the modern State of Israel. The event will highlight the successful commercial relationship between the U.S. and Israel, the fact that Israel is America’s 20th largest trading partner, and celebrating the 23rd anniversary of the U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement. Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Sallai Meridor will highlight the event as will Stuart Eizenstat and former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Danny Ayalon. This is the first time that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has hosted such a program.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty to Visit Israel
Early December will see the first ever visit of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty to Israel accompanied by a 40 member trade and state government delegation. EDI president Sherwin Pomerantz will give the opening lecture to the group on their first day in the country, December 14th, on the topic of “Doing Business in Israel: A Newcomer’s Overview.” EDI represents the interests of the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Minnesota.
Seminar on Entering the U.S. Market Scheduled for Dec. 8th in Tel Aviv
EDI, in its strategic partnership with Stratus Marketing Partners of Boise, ID, will sponsor its third Market Entry Seminar for Israeli companies hosted by the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Tel Aviv. Greg Mower, a partner at Stratus, will be in Israel that week to conduct the seminar which is expected to draw representatives from approximately 30 local companies.
Israeli Serial Entrepreneur Yossi Vardi Hosted in November
Yossi Vardi, most famous for being one of the founders of ICQ, the Israeli social network startup sold to AOL some years ago, was the featured speaker at a gathering of the graduates of the Merage Foundation for U.S. Israel Trade’s winter alumni gathering in Herzlia on November 25th. Vardi shared his experience in the successful startup of dozens of local high-tech companies. The Merage Foundation sponsors three two week programs each year in Irvine, CA for Israeli executives and, to date, has over 200 alumni now in Israel. EDI operates the Israel Liaison Office for the Foundation.
EDI Publishes 2008 Edition of CONNECT for the AMCHAM
The 2008 edition of CONNECT, the annual publication of the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) was published in early December to coincide with the December 2nd event held in Washington, DC. This 90 page volume featured stories about Israeli companies who were first in being listed on the NYNEX, the AMEX, the NASDAQ, etc. and how their progress helped grow the local economy. This is the fourth year that EDI has had resposibiiltiy for publishing the magazine, including writing all of the copy and directing the efforts of the graphic artist and printer.
