Life Sciences Mission to Oklahoma & Delaware Begins December 5th
Companies from Israel, Egypt and Iraq will be in Oklahoma and Delaware during the week of December 5th as part of a life sciences mission to both locations. EDI, in its role as the regional trade representative of both states in this region, has recruited these firms and they will meet potential strategic partners, joint venture partners and business associates during the visit. Both states boast a strong life sciences sector and history has shown that companies in the region are interested in such opportunities.
EDI to Host Visitors from Euromediterranee of Marseilles, France
EDI is arranging two days of meetings in mid-December for representatives of Euromediterranee based in Marseilles. The meetings will be with Israeli companies considering opening facilities in Europe and willing to learn more about the advantages of doing so in France. The region around Marseilles is seeking to become an IT center for Southern Europe by attracting companies in that sector, among others, to locate there.
Saskatchewan Featured at November Investment Event
The Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, in cooperation with the Israel-Canada Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv sponsored an “Invest in Canada” event in Tel Aviv on November 7th. During that event, EDI, in its role as a consultant to Enterprise Saskatchewan, made a presentation on behalf of the Province. CPA Brian Knippel, a senior member of DeLoitte’s Saskatoon Office Staff was also in Tel Aviv for the event and spoke about tax implications of locating in Saskatchewan. Other featured speakers included Alan Baker, Chairman of the Israel-Canada Chamber of Commerce and former Israeli Ambassdor to Canada, Canadian Economic Consul in Israel Bonny Berger, and the Director of the Canada-Israel R&D Foundation Les Abelson.
EDI Handles Two Booths at WATEC
On November 15-17, EDI managed two booths at WATEC, Israel’s biannual water and Greentech exhibition and conference held at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds. One was an American State Offices Association (ASOA) booth in which Delaware, New Mexico and Oklahoma participated along with our colleagues from Ohio and Maryland. The second booth was dedicated to Pennsylvania and featured six companies, two of whom had representatives here in Israel at the time. Deb Lenker, EDI’s liaison in Harrisburg was also present. EDI represents the trade and investment interests in the region for Delaware, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania and chairs ASOA as well.
Delaware Gov. Markell Featured at Israel Day at the NYSE
November 29th marked the annual Israel Day Event at the New York Stock Exchange. EDI, in its role as the representative in Israel of Delaware’s Office of the Secretary of State, arranged for the participation of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell as one of the keynote speakers at the event. Delaware was also a sponsor of the event. EDI also arranged for a welcome dinner on the evening before the event, sponsored by the Delaware Department of State and the US law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. At the Israel Day itself, EDI president Sherwin Pomerantz chaired a roundtable session dealing with US-Israel Business Collaborations which featured representatives of the tech communities in New York and Delaware as well as two representatives of a McGraw Hill Education BIRD-F (US-Israel Bi-national R&D Foundation) funded project. The event is jointly sponsored by the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Tel Aviv and the America-Israel Friendship League in the US. EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz is a member of the Board of Directors of the AMCHAM.
