The 5th Israel Day at the NYSE on November 29, 2011 included a full day program, hosted by the America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL) in cooperation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).  EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz is a member of the Board of Directors of the AMCHAM.

EDI, in its role as the representative in Israel of Delaware’s Office of the Secretary of State, arranged for the participation of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell as one of the keynote speakers at the event.  Delaware served as a sponsor of the event as well.  EDI also arranged for a welcome dinner on the evening before the event, sponsored by the Delaware Department of State and the US law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.

At the Israel Day itself, EDI president Sherwin Pomerantz chaired a roundtable session dealing with US-Israel Business Collaborations which featured representatives of the tech communities in New York and Delaware as well as two representatives of a McGraw Hill Education BIRD-F (US-Israel Bi-national R&D Foundation) funded project.

Overall, the Israel Day this year focused on business innovations that can foster new partnerships and cooperative investments between the U.S. and Israel.  In this vein, it showcased a whole gamut of firms, from major global companies to new start-ups, highlighting success stories such as SodaStream and The Gifts Project.  Roundtable sessions demonstrated how Israel can be a good partner for American companies both to increase exports and create employment opportunities.
