Delaware Delegation Visits Israel in January 

Delaware Supreme Court Justice Jack Jacobs joined by President of the Delaware Bar Association Ben Strauss, and Jeffrey Bullock, Delaware’s Secretary of State, headed a delegation to Israel during the week of January 3^rd.  The group also included a number of Delaware companies who were in Israel to explore commercial relationships with local firms.  Joining them as well was Bob Dayton, head of the Delaware Bio Association along with senior academicians from both the University of Delaware and Delaware State University.  During the visit the delegation met with a number of local law firms to hear their issues and concerns related to corporate registration in the US.  Justice Jacobs also conducted a number of seminars for local lawyers and addressed a forum of Israeli judges.   EDI in its role as the local representative of the Delaware Department of State organized and administered the mission.  

EDI Publishes “CONNECT” 

CONNECT, the annual publication of the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Tel Aviv came off the presses in late December. This year’s publication has as its theme, a handbook for how to do business in the U.S.  The cover is a takeoff on the well know “Dummies” series of handbooks and provides the reader with a comprehensive set of guidelines for opening operations in the United States.  EDI acts as both editor and publisher of the volume, and has been doing so for the last four years. 

Pennsylvania Company Meets Potential Israeli Associates 

Pool Pak Technologies Corporation of York, Pennsylvania was in Israel the week of January 3^rd to meet with potential local business partners.  The company is a leading manufacturer of indoor swimming pool dehumidification equipment.  Their products are designed to offer a complete dehumidification system designed expressly for the harsh indoor swimming pool environment.  EDI, in its role as representing the interests of the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development in the region, organized the visit, made the appointments and acompanied the representative during his stay in the country.   

EDI President Participated in Israel Day at the New York Stock Exchange 

The New York Stock Exchange marked their annual Israel Day event on December 2^nd and hosted a delegation of Israeli business people which included EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz.   The delegation heard a presentation about the Exchange from its Deputy Director, rang the opening bell at 9:30 AM to mark the beginning of the trading day and heard a presentation, as well, by James Tisch, CEO of Loews Corp.  A luncheon hosted by Morgan Stanley at their New York Headquarters followed.  The event was part of a two day program on the topic, with the second day on December 3^rd devoted to the challenges and opportunities presented by the US-Israel commercial relationship.  Israel’s Ambassador to the US, Michael Oren opened the second day’s program and Israel’s Minister of Infrastructure, Uzi Landau, was present as well.  Chemi Peres, CEO of Pitango Venture Capital and Chairman of the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce along with Danny Gillerman, former Israeli Ambassador to the UN headed the delegation.
