Saskatchewan to be Featured at November Investment Event 

The Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, in cooperation with the Israel-Canada Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv will sponsor an “Invest in Canada” event in Tel Aviv on November 7th.  During that event, EDI, in its role as a consultant to Enterprise Saskatchewan, will make a presentation on behalf of the Province.   CPA Brian Knippel, a senior member of DeLoitte’s Saskatoon Office Staff, will be in Tel Aviv for the event and will speak about tax implications of locating in Saskatchewan.

Recruiting Continues for Life Sciences Mission to Oklahoma & Delaware 

Recruiting is continuing for a life sciences mission to Oklahoma and Delaware to take place during the week of December 4th.  EDI, in its role as the regional trade representative of both states in this region, is seeking to bring 5-7 regional companies to both states during that week to meet potential strategic partners, joint venture partners and business associates.  Both states boast a strong life sciences sector and history has shown that companies in the region are interested in such opportunities.  

EDI to Handle Two Booths at WATEC 

On November 15-17 EDI will be managing two booths at WATEC, Israel’s biannual water and Greentech exhibition and conference at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds.  One will be an American State Offices Association (ASOA) booth in which Delaware, New Mexico and Oklahoma will be participating along with our colleagues from Ohio and Maryland.  The second booth will be dedicated to Pennsylvania and will feature six companies, two of whom will have representatives here in Israel at the time.  Deb Lenker, EDI’s liaison in Harrisburg will also be present.  EDI represents the trade and investment interests in the region for Delaware, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania and chairs ASOA as well. 

Delaware Gov. Markell to be Features at Israel Day at the NYSE 

November 29th will mark the annual America-Israel Business Day Event at the New York Stock Exchange.  EDI, in its role as the representative in Israel of Delaware’s Office of the Secretary of State, has confirmed the participation of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell as one of the keynote speakers that day.  Delaware will also be a sponsor of the event.  The event is jointly sponsored by the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Tel Aviv and the America-Israel Friendship League in the US.  EDI President Sherwin Pomerantz is a member of the Board of Directors of the AMCHAM.   

Bank of Israel’s Barry Topf Speaks at Merage Event  

Barry Topf, Senior Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Israel, addressed the Merage Foundation Fellows at a special event in Tel Aviv on October 4th.  Topf is a member of the recently established Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Israel and since 2002 he has been a member of the board of the central bank. From 2001 he managed the Foreign Currency Department and from 2008-2011 was head of the Market Operations Department.  His responsibilities included implementation of monetary policy, management of Israel’s foreign currency reserves, implementation of its foreign exchange policy and other policy issues.  He is the co-author of Global Financial Deregulation: Commercial Banking at the Crossroads, as well as articles on  reserve management, portfolio management and foreign exchange policy. There are now 265 Merage Foundation Fellows in Israel and EDI represents the interests of the Merage Institute in Israel.
